Lizzie Hobby Personal Blog

Hello and welcome to the Eighth Street Films website and blog! My name is Lizzie Hobby, and I have the privilege of serving as the project manager for a team of six other journalism majors at Wartburg College as we document Wartburg’s 90-year legacy as the Knights.

Being part of Eighth Street Films has been an incredible experience, and I’m honored to help lead our team as we bring this story to life. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, share how I found my path to Wartburg, and talk about what comes next after graduation.

My journey to Wartburg College began with music. As a student from Fort Wayne, Indiana, I first discovered Wartburg through its choir program. Music has always been an important part of my life, and learning about the strength and reputation of the choral program immediately caught my attention. What started as an interest in choir quickly grew into something more, and after visiting campus, I knew Wartburg was where I wanted to be. The strong sense of community, supportive environment, and wide range of opportunities made it feel like home.

While music brought me to Wartburg, my academic journey led me to my Journalism & Communication major. Through my experiences, I discovered a passion for storytelling, creativity, and connecting with others through media. My work with Eighth Street Films has helped me build strong communication and leadership skills, especially in my role as project manager, where I help guide our team’s vision, organization, and progress.

As I look ahead to graduation, I’m excited for what’s next. I plan to move back to Fort Wayne and pursue a career in social media marketing. I’m passionate about combining creativity and strategy to create engaging content and help organizations connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.

While I’m excited for the future, leaving Wartburg will be bittersweet. The friendships I’ve built, the faculty and staff who have supported me, and the experiences I’ve had here have all played a huge role in shaping who I am today. I will always be grateful for my time at Wartburg and everything it has given me.

My goal moving forward is to continue growing both personally and professionally while making a positive impact through my work. I hope to use the skills I’ve developed to tell meaningful stories, build connections, and inspire others along the way.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my journey. I’m excited to continue sharing our work through Eighth Street Films!
